About Ryan
Ryan Francis Hobson, AKA Ryan Francois, has been making artwork since childhood, but didn’t really consider himself an artist until high school, where he studied different artists, and started to develop a personal style. This style would later be known as “Pink Cheeto.” This style of art, also known as surrealist automatism, was mostly just a “mental exercise” until guests in Ryan’s studio space started requesting tattoos in that style.
After high school, Ryan studied at Cleveland Institute of Art as a drawing major, and eventually landed an apprenticeship at a tattoo shop on the west side of Cleveland. From here, Ryan’s artistic interests changed drastically. The sudden exposure to new drawing styles he gained by working in a tattoo shop sparked a deep interest into American traditional tattooing. Everything from the rich history to the subject matter and style of the drawings found in American traditional drew Ryan in, and he spent the majority of his career as a tattooer so far doing mostly traditional tattoos.
Later, after opening his private studio, he became very interested in singe-needle “micro tattoos.” The response from his followers was overwhelmingly positive, so he has been developing that style ever since.
Today Ryan has been tattooing for over 10 years, and still finds immense joy and satisfaction in tattooing.
